How do I open GIF Giver on Mac?

Choose GIF Giver from the menu bar or press Command–Option–G. Click a GIF to copy it, or drag it directly into any app that accepts images.

How does Choose GIF to Copy work?

In Messages and most native Mac text fields, right-click → Services → Choose GIF to Copy. Pick a GIF, then press Command–V to paste it.

GIF Giver copies your selection to the clipboard. It does not request Accessibility permission, monitor input, or control another app.

How do I use it in Messages?

Open a conversation, tap the apps button beside the text field, and choose GIF Giver. Search or browse, then tap a GIF to insert it into the conversation.

Do favorites and collections sync across devices in 1.0.1?

No. New favorites, recents, collections, and settings stay on the device where you make them. On iPhone and iPad, the companion app and Messages extension share the same-device library through Apple's App Group.

Version 1.0.1 neither reads nor writes iCloud library or settings data. Any KVS data left by an older release remains untouched under your Apple Account. Durable private CloudKit synchronization is planned for a future update.

How do I reset the cache?

On Mac, open Settings → Advanced and choose Clear GIF Cache. That only removes temporary cached data — your device-local favorites and collections stay put.

Do I need an account?

No. GIF Giver has no account, sign-up, or login.

Where do GIFs come from?

Search and trending results are provided by GIPHY and Klipy. GIF Giver displays provider attribution in the picker.
